Best Time to Go for Safari
June to October is generally the best time for a Kenyan safari. The weather is mostly dry, wildlife is easier to spot, and July–October is especially popular for the Great Wildebeest Migration in the Maasai Mara.
- June–October: Best overall dry weather, excellent game viewing
- July–September: Best for the Great Migration
- January–February: Excellent game viewing with fewer crowds
- March–May: Long rains greener landscapes and generally fewer tourists, but some roads can be challenging
- November–December: Short rains good for budget-conscious travellers and lush scenery
For a first-time safari: I’d recommend July–September, especially if the goal is to experience the Maasai Mara during the migration.
